Our last blog post of the year!!! Ayers wanted us to make the last post to be a reflection of the blog and year I believe. I believe we started the whole blogging ordeal at the start of second term and wow this year flew by, but no thanks to the blog. But overall I kind of started to not mind it. At the begginging I found it to be kind of a pain, but then I found out that I could really just use it as a place to talk about the stuff I really enjoy (sports). But I also could use it as a place to kind of “vent” if things were bugging me in school or if I didn’t like the way somebody was doing stuff. And if you have kept up with the blog you know I did this almost once a week towards the end of the year. I think it has also helped me with my ability to write and also my typing speed. Although neither of those are graded. And I also found out that if you just get your word count and post number done every week, it’s real easy to get a good grade on it. The blog is really helping me with towards maybe for the first time in my high school career getting an A in a LA class (I think). Well Mr. Ayers I had a good time this year, it has been pretty fun all year and I sure hope there is no hard feelings for the PowerPoint. Signing off Jake NOT FUN
Since I posted last there has been quite a few games in both the conference finals. The Lakers and Denver series is 2 to 1 right now but as I am doing this they are playing game four and it looks like Denver is going to end up tying the series at two games a piece. It seems to me that the Lakers kind of stole game in Denver and are going to have close the series out at home. In the eastern conference the series is 2 to 1 in favor of Orlando. The way the Magic are play it really won’t be a surprise to me if the series ends before game seven.

Last week I showed you the video of Michael Jordan breaking the backboard but here’s Shaquille O'Neal breaking the whole basket.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Well I got my word count down so here is when Michael Jordan broke the back board it is one of the nastiest dunks I have ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caNVWoHLejE
This having to blog and do the forum both this week is really not fun at all. I don’t like having to read then do the forum and then be like oh yeah I still have to post on my blog. It’s really lame and especially this week since all of my ap test are this week and then I have test in all of my other classes and I’m sure we’ll have to blog an extra ten times this week just for the hell of it. And oh yeah we have to read and work on our project that by they way nug and killyer still have no idea what we’re going to do for it. Well I just had to get my complaining out of the way so now I think I can move on and try to get some talk about what’s going on in the sporting world.
Well in NBA playoff news the Lakers got shitted on today in Houston. Wow they played bad and the rockets didn’t even have Yao. Kobe only had 15 points. This could have been the ugliest game I’ve seen the Lakers play this year. In the other series Boston and Orlando are tied at two games a piece, and cav’s lead 3-0 and the nuggets also lead 3-0.

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Last night the Laker’s played and wow did they terrible. Huston pretty much dominated the entire game. Kobe played awful it sure seemed like he went 2 for 45 but some how he still had 25 points. They said Kobe was sick and had a bad shoulder but I just think he was a little down in the dumps about not winning the league MVP. The MVP award went to Lebron James. I’m not sure how they picked him, over Kobe. I think this had to be one of the closest MVP races ever, when both players are crazy good and very important to their team’s success. The Laker’s and Huston play again on Wednesday night I believe and I sure hope that the Laker’s don’t blow another one at home. Maybe it was the six day break that they had, cause that sometimes does have an effect on how they play after a long break in the first game of a series. So hopefully they bounce back and just win four straight and move on to the western conference finals against the winner of the Nugget Maverick series. Also last night in the first game of the evening, Boston played Orlando in Boston. Orlando won. This was a huge win for them, to win in Boston and to beat the defending champs in the first game of the series. In my opinion Boston played almost as bad as the Lakers did. But I actually hope that Orlando beats the Celtics.

Last night Boston Red Sox played the Yankees for the first time at the new Yankee stadium. Yankees lost! This is great. Yankees spent so much in the off season and still have the worst overall era in baseball right now and are pretty much sucking it up where ever they play.

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Well since I blogged last I’m pretty sure that the bulls and Celtics played game six and seven. First off this was one of the best NBA games I’ve ever watched and most people I have talked to they feel the same way. Game six went into three overtimes and the Bulls came out on top. So game seven was in Boston and although it didn’t go into overtime it still was a really good game in my opinion. Boston won by ten but really it was a lot closer than it sounds. The Hawks won game seven over the heat but this series was not a good one at all, the average margin of victory was 19 points. So the Hawks have the Cav’s next round. I don’t think that it is going to end well for the Hawks. The second round started in the west, the mavericks played the nuggets today in the first game of the series. The nuggets won, I did not see the game and have not seen any highlight on it so I really can’t say much about it. But now that the first round is over this is when the playoffs get really slow cause at most there are 2 games a day. Tomorrow the Lakers play the rockets in LA and the Celtics play the magic in Boston. I’ll have more on the NBA playoffs in my upcoming post, unless we are done doing our blogs. And let me tell you that would be pretty cool cause I am not liking this blogging and have to read our books and do the forum about our books too. Oh and we have to do our final project about our books too. Not fun.

Ok well there really isn’t much to talk about besides the NBA playoffs. Last night there was a couple of games. Oh and by the way the Spurs are out of it if I didn’t post that last time, I couldn’t remember if I did or not. But anyways moving on the games last night, the heat got dominated by the hawks so the hawks lead that series 3 to 2 and game 6 is in Miami tomorrow night. Then in the other game last night the nuggets went in to the game leading 3 to 1 and in the game they killed the hornets 107 to 86 so the nuggets move on and play the mavericks in the western conference semifinals. Tonight there are three eastern conference games. The other night the bulls and the Celtics has another over time game but this time the Celtics came out on top so the Celtics lead the series 3 to 2 but the game tonight is in Chicago. The trail blazers and rockets play in Huston and the rockets lead that series 3 to 2. And in the last game the magic play at the 76ers and they are up 3 to 2. That’s all I got about the freaking NBA at the moment.

Well A Rod is back in the news cause I guess that he allegedly used steroids since high school and didn’t stop using them until he was with the Yankees. I could really careless about this because now this is going to be in the news for another 4 weeks and it really pisses me off.

This week was the NFL Draft. Since the Lions didn’t win a game last year they got the first pick and chose Matt Stafford from Georgia. Shonn Greene was drafted the first pick of Sunday and went to the New York Jets. My Packers took B.j. Raji from Boston College in the first round. They did a lot of trading around and ended up with some defensive help and a little offensive help too.

Oh in other news the Yankees got swept by the Red Sox this weekend.
There is a lot of sporting news since I haven’t really posted about any sports this week. I got way too distracted by Nug’s outfit on Thursday. First off the NBA playoffs are still going on and some of the series are getting pretty intense. The Bulls Celtics series is becoming one to remember, especially today’s great game. The Celtics came into Chicago today leading the series 2-1 and left with the series tied at 2-2. And wow it was one heck of a game. The game went into double overtime and that doesn’t even explain how good of game it was. They play game 5 in Boston on Tuesday. The Cavaliers took the series today by knocking off the Pistons 99-78. The Cav’s took this series very convincingly and played very well in all four games. The only thing about taking the series in four games is that now the Cav’s could have up to 9 day break before their next game. The Magic 76ers series are tied up at 2-2, I haven’t seen any of these games so I really don’t have much to say about this series besides I hope someone in the east can knock off the Cav’s since everyone thinks that they are destined for the championship. The Rockets are leading the series 2-1 right now but they are playing it’s halftime at the moment but the rockets are up by 6. The Hornets won their first game of the series this week end; Nuggets lead that series 2-1. Wade led the Heat to a win and to take the lead on the series 2-1. The Mavericks took game four and lead the series 3-1 now over the Spurs. And last but my favorite, the Lakers. They had a little slip up in game 3 and lost by a point but then yesterday won and now lead the series 3-1. The Lakers have played real good and it seems to me that they are the best looking team that I’ve seen. I could be playing favorites though. MVP award comes out soon and they even have commercials because it’s really down to the two greats, Kobe or Lebron. I hope personally that Kobe gets it but I think either of them could get it because they both are so good and so fun to watch.

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Ok today I am going to blog about Tyler’s 200 dollar outfit he is wearing today. Let me explain it to you first off he has just a rather normal polo it’s this light blue, it kind of matches his eyes. In the fashion world is probably a good thing. Then he has on these blue and white like crazy striped, but they are like different kinds of white or blue striped patches put together its kind like one of those old blankets. His shorts are also polo so it’s a whole polo outfit. To top it all off he has the all white air max’s, and wow let me tell you he looks freakin good.

Moving on from how good Nug looks to some sporting news. Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington are holding a press conference today on weather or not they are going to go to the NBA draft or come back for their senior year. They just won the National Championship so I don’t see the point in them coming back for another year unless they were super confident that they were going to win another championship I don’t see the point. I would not want to win it my junior year and then come back and not even win it my senior year.

Now since I am not really feeling the sports today. I’m kind of into the fashion; I’ll talk about kels and whatever you call those weird shorts/ shirt she is wearing. But on a serious note I really think I might have a future in fashion.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

I just wanted to blog real quick so I could get my three done for the week. The big news around the sporting world right now is the NFL draft is coming up and who is going to go to which team in the first round. Also the NBA playoffs are still going on the Cavs won again this evening to take a 2-0 lead on the Pistons. Yesterday the Celtics won in a rather high scoring game to tie the series at 1-1 and the other game last night the Spurs won to make that series 1-1 too.

Sunday, April 19, 2009

Today I’m going to cover a whole bunch of sporting news since I haven’t posted in about a week. Gary Sheffield hit his 500th homerun this week. The Florida Marlins are 11 and 1 through the first two weeks of baseball and they are killing everyone they play. This week the Yankees had there first home game in the new Yankee Stadium, and yester day they got beat 22 to 4 to the Cleveland Indians. The Indians had a 14 run second inning. When people have feelings for the Yankees you either love them or hate them, and I am more of a hater I guess you could say. I just do not like the way that they think if they buy up the suppose to greatest players and pay them crazy amounts of money and still not win or like last year even make the playoffs.

Moving on from baseball the NBA playoffs started yesterday. Starting with my favorite team, the Lakers, they have the Jazz the first round of the playoffs. To day was the first game the Lakers won 113 to 100. In what I thought was a rather easy game for them, from the start you could tell that the Jazz really never had a chance. Then today the 76ers and Magic played and this was a pretty exiting game. The Magic were up by like 15 or so and the 76ers came all the way back and won with a last second shot 100 to 98. In one of the surprising games the Bulls beat the defending champs Celtics 103 105 in over time. The Cavs killed the Pistons 84 102. Everyone is thinking that it is going to be the Cavs and Lakers in the Championship; I think that half of that is almost for sure. There is really no one in the west that can compete with the Lakers and the way they are playing right now and they think it will be the Cavs since the Celtics don’t have KG but there are some teams that I feel can beat the Cavs in a maybe a series that goes 5 or 7 games. The Rockets bet the Trail Blazers and the Mavericks knocked off the Spurs too. Atlanta just beat the Heat and Denver and New Orleans just started. Also they hockey playoffs have started but I’m not a real big hockey fan so I really don’t want to talk to blog about any hockey other than in local sporting new the Roughriders lost last night in the last 15 seconds of the game so their season is over.
First off I want to say a perspectives has all of a sudden turned into this class where we had all of this stuff due. Last week we had our huge opinion papers that I found kind of tough to write. This really was difficult because we had to find three of our own sources from ebscohost.com and the toughest part of the whole thing was probably the bibliography. I used easybib.com and it still was real hard to get it all right or right enough to Mr. Ayer’s standards. But now that it’s done and over with it wasn’t that bad I just hope we wont have to do anymore papers like that the rest of the year. Since I am on the subject of the end of year, I really can not wait till school is over and done with. We have about four weeks left and I can say that for about the past four months I have kind of got the senioritis and not tried as hard as I probably should have been but especially now that the weather is getting nice and I’m out doing stuff after school outside I really do not do much school work at home. As the school year wraps up it is really weird to think that I won’t ever be coming back to this school that I have been at almost everyday for the last four years, but I’m really excited to move on. I will be attending the University of Iowa next year. I will probably be in almost all of the same classes as Mr. Ayers since I am just skipping right to my Ph.D.

Well I said it was going to be Thursday but I just decided to do my third blog right now. Tiger made a run but couldn’t close he ended with bogeys on 17 and 18 and ended his chance at winning the masters. He finished minus 8. Cabrera an Argentinean won it in a playoff. There have only been 7 playoffs in the history of the masters. It was pretty cool but it seemed to me that almost everyone kind of chocked at the end. The announcers said it was the pressure of the masters and I can believe it. Well that’s about it for this week.
Well happy Easter everyone. As of this moment Tiger and Phil just finished the front nine. Phil set a masters record 30 on the front nine is minus 10 and only a stroke back from the leaders. Tiger has gained some strokes back too. He is at minus 7 as of now and still has nine holes to catch the leaders and if I had to bet I think I would bet in his favor. He pretty much is the most clutch athlete in sports right now. I’ll have more on he winner and how it all turned out probably my next post which will probably be Thursday.
The other day I talked about the Angles pitcher, Nick Adenhart, which had died that morning in a car crash. Well later that day when I got home or the next day I saw that he had actually pitched here in cedar rapids for a season with the kernels. When I heard that it kind of gave me a weird feeling because I was like wow I could have seen him play. I guess it kind of turned into someone that I really had never heard of into someone that I could have seen pitch a game.

Ok well I just blogged the other day, and this keeping up with my blogging I’m having a tough time coming up with new and exciting stuff to blog about. See in the past I would maybe blog once every two weeks so there was tons of stuff sports stuff to talk about but now with blogging three times a week and the required amount of words I’m running out of stuff to talk about. Anyways I’ll find something.
In the off season the Yankees spent a record amount of money on two players. This is right when the recession hit so some people were kind of upset but anyways they signed C.C. Sabathia. He was supposed to be there ace this year. He pitched opening day against a not very good Baltimore team. They lost ten to five. And Sabathia kind of blew a big one; he is the only pitcher in Yankee history not to get a strike out on opening day. Money well spent in my opinion. I hope they miss the play offs again. Make it two seasons in a row. They lost the next day to Baltimore again so they started off the season 0 and 2. They are on pace to go 0 and 165 this season.
Today when I got on ESPN like I usually do right when I get on the computer for a blogging day, there was a breaking news thing that popped up that an Angles pitcher had died at the age of 22. His name is Nick Adenhart, he was a rookie pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels. Adenhart died in a hit-and-run car crash Thursday morning. He had pitched the night before in Anaheim. A spokesman from the University of California, Irvine Medical Center said Adenhart died after undergoing surgery. Adenhart, 22, was one of three people killed in the crash just after midnight, after pitching in a loss against the Oakland Athletics. This was just his fourth major league start. The driver of a minivan ran a red light in Fullerton and hit two cars. According to the Los Angeles Times, two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and two were taken to a hospital. The fourth person is reported to be seriously injured. The minivan's driver ran from the scene, but was arrested about a mile away.
The last couple of post I have not had a picture of the day. That is because the past few times I have got on and looked there really wasn’t any that I liked all that much. And I only post the best for my readers (Mr. Ayers, and Asian Girl that thinks my blog is “fine”).
These pictures were from Kodak.com they have there own picture of the day thing. The first one is titled- Sally Lightfoot Cab.
The second one is titled- Bald Eagle ‘fishin’.

Ok well as I promised I would be talking about last night’s championship game. But before I get started with that blow out I made a typo when I was talking last post about how many fans were there. I said 75000 Michigan St. fans but I meant that was how many Ford field held. Sorry that was my bad. But last nights game really wasn’t a game from the get go. North Carolina started off hot and never really looked back. Michigan St. on the other hand started off slow and found itself in a hole and kept digging and then when they tried to crawl out, it was way too deep already. UNC shot lights out to start the game and all the way through it. Michigan St. had a record 21 turnovers last night. I’m pretty sure no one anywhere can win a game with 21 turnovers. UNC was up by like 20 to end the first half. That was a record too of a men’s championship game. Ty Lawson also had a championship record with 8 steals. Wayne Ellenton was the games MVP. The closest MSU got was 13 I’m pretty sure. Oh and if you were wondering, yes, yes I did win the pool at my fathers work.

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Well the two semifinal games were played yesterday afternoon and evening for the men’s NCAA basketball tournament. On the one side of the bracket it was number 3 Michigan St. facing number 1 ranked U Conn. The final four this year is being held in Detroit so it was pretty much a home game for Michigan St. They were talking before the game how there could be up to 75000 Michigan St. fans in attendance. Normally when a basketball game is held in a football stadium, it is set at one end or the other. But for yesterdays games the floor was set right in the middle of the field because there was so many fans there. Michigan St. ended up knocking off U Conn. in a rather good game in my opinion. There was this huge dunk that a Michigan St. guy had over a U Conn. player. I faked like he was going to pass and then just went for the dunk and just dunked on the guy. I was actually watching the game at BWW and the whole place went crazy. In the second game number one ranked North Carolina played another third ranked seed Villanova. This wasn’t that great of a game just because of how good UNC is. They are playing really well right now and that’s good because, if they win, I win the pool that I entered and that means some money in my pocket. That’s pretty much it for now the championship game is played tomorrow night, I’ll probably have a post about that after a champ is crowned.

Thursday, April 2, 2009

There are only a couple of days till opening day in the MLB. And then there is only a couple more games till the NBA playoffs start. I’m not sure what I’m going to focus on, but probably the NBA playoffs because both of these sports are rather boring during there regular season but then when they get to the playoffs, I think the players actually start trying or try a little harder than they normally do on for example a Tuesday afternoon game. I have always been a Lakers fan ever since I was a little tike, but I’m not real sure what I would say is my favorite MLB team. I would probably say it would have to be the cubs, only cause that’s the only team I’ve seen play at there stadium. But anyways moving on from what my favorite teams are… The standings for the NBA playoffs from today in the west it’s-
1. Lakers
2. Denver
3. San Antonio
4. Houston
5. New Orleans
6. Portland
7. Utah
8. Dallas
And in the East it’s-
1. Cleveland
2. Boston
3. Orlando
4. Atlanta
5. Philadelphia
6. Miami
7. Detroit
8. Chicago
If you were wondering at all I guess. But for my new thing, the picture of the day that I found and liked. The frog one is titled Mirrors. And the other is the space shuttle taking off a couple of weeks ago.

Monday, March 30, 2009

This could be a once in a life time thing here because if I finish this post I am pretty sure that I will be all caught up on my blogs. It is a miracle. I have really covered most of recent sports news; there are a couple of things though to talk about I guess. But I really am kind of tired of talking about strictly sports. I was doing some surfing of the web and I remember in some class looking at the picture of the day, but it was like from NASA so I started looking at some of the recent pictures. This is my favorite that I found in the last week. It’s the space shuttle being hulled from California back to Florida on a modified Boeing 747.

I don’t know what it is but these pictures really intersested me. I really think I could spend all day just looking at these. I want to see if there were any other organizations that did this type of thing, and I found a Kodak one where they have a daily picture thing too. I’m thinking this could be a new touch to my blog, at the end of every post put up a new picture that I found that I liked. Here’s one from the Kodak site entitled Alone.
This evening I want to talk about the most dominating current athlete in all of sports in my book. No it not Kobe Bryant or Labron James, I’m talking about Tiger Woods. Yesterday in the Arnold Palmer Invitational going into the final round Sunday Tiger was down five strokes to Sean O’Hair. Tiger made a huge come back and sunk 16 footer on the 18th. He made a birdie and won his 5th Arnold Palmer Invitational by only one stroke. If you were watching it live like I was, you knew the second that he walked up to the ball that it was in the hole. It’s not like O’Hair is some chump that can’t play golf, he is ranked in the top 30 in the world for professional golfers. This is Tiger’s only third tourney back from his like 8 month layoff. He had to have surgery on his knee for like a torn ACL. (Something like that) I wonder what that guy was feeling when he knew Tiger Woods was playing and catching him. You could pretty much say that he chocked under the pressure though. It’s just so amazing I think to watch this man play golf. The way that he dominates everyone else; I just think it’s so cool. I’m pretty sure that the Masters is only like three weeks away and I’m pretty sure everyone in the nation is thinking that Tiger is going to win. Well at least I am. If I was in charge of getting the green jacket ready I would call in Tiger’s size, because the way he played on Sunday afternoon, I really don’t think anyone has a chance.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

I haven’t had a chance to blog about the ncaa men’s basketball tournament. Well I was doing really well; I believe I was in second place in this rather big poll but then after what happened the past two days in the elite eight I didn’t end up doing so well with my picks in those games. Although I do have UNC winning and they are still in it so I should be able to pick up some points if they end up winning and hopefully place in the top 3 so I can win some money. There hasn’t really been any major upsets or Cinderella stories this year in the tournament. There has been some pretty good games though. In the first round there were one night that there was like three overtime games. If I can remember right it was the Wisconsin game, the Siena game, and I can’t remember what the last one is but they were all pretty good games but none of the teams that one those close games ended up moving on to the next round. Then just last night, it was probably going to be the best game of the tournament, well it is so far. It was the Pitt vs. Nova game. Pitt being a number 1 seed and Nova being a number 3 seed. It was close the whole game but then Fields from Pitt, you know who he is, he’s the chubby point guard with the crazy hair and the headband, well he got fouled and made both free throws to tie the game with like something under 15 seconds left and Nova inbounds the ball and takes it full court and makes a little running lay-up type thing as time expired. But then they put .5 seconds back on the clock. I know you are thinking that isn’t enough time to do anything but actually Derek Fisher of the LA Lakers caught and shot with .4 left and won the game, so that had a chance. Pitt in bounded the ball to Fields he took a gather dribble and shot it banked hard off the backboard but it really looked like it had a chance and it pretty much was right on target. The game was real exciting I thought personally.
So in the final four it UNC a number 1 seed vs. Nova a number 3 seed and then Michigan State a two seed vs. UConn another number one seed. The winners play next Monday for the men’s national championship. Personally I hope UNC wins so that maybe I have a chance to win some money this year in the pools.
Well blogging over spring break is not fun at all and now we have to go back to school tomorrow. And then last night we had kind of a large snow storm which really sucks. I’m at the point where I’m sick of winter and want it to get warm and become nice out.

Saturday, March 28, 2009

I guess now it has been a couple of weeks ago but we went down to the boy state basketball turny in Des Moines. We went to a three of games on Wednesday and then two on Thursday. The games were pretty good nothing too exciting, like the Johnston vs. Urbandale game. That one probably shouldn’t have been a state basketball game. I think I dosed off during it, it was so boring. But then on Thursday in the quarterfinals of 2a it was solan and western. This is probably one of the best high school basketball games I have ever seen. If I can remember right, which I probably can’t, but anyways solan was like down by twenty so somewhere close like that at the start of the second half and came back to push it into overtime then it went into double overtime. And there was this huge dunk that this solan kid had, and they ended up winning the game. The solan point guard that is real good (can’t remember his name sorry) had like 35 points. It was such a good game. Then there was the 4a championship game. It was Linn Mar vs. Ames. This one was another good one everyone was kind of planning on Linn Mar getting killed cause of Barnes, who by the was is the number 3 ranked basketball recruit in the nation out of his class, anyways I too was I kinda hoping Linn Mar would get killed but they kinda hung on there up until the end of the game. But Barnes, who by the way has offers from UNC and Duke just to name a couple, had like 6 huge dunks during the game. I thought the game was one of the better high school games I has seen.

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Well it’s been while since we have got a chance to blog. This is kind of a good thing I think. Although I kind of got the hang of this whole blogging thing, I don’t really enjoy it. I find that blogging is kind of nice break from the normal day in perspectives but still it’s kind of a pain because I never come close to finishing my 3 post of 250 words a piece. It wouldn’t be so bad I don’t think if I would get it all done but even if I worked/ typed the whole class I really don’t think I could get it done. Oh well I guess, it is our assignment so, I guess I have to do it. My blog was originally started to cover almost all sports and the big news in sports. I did this in most post but sometimes I felt that there was bigger and maybe some more interesting things to talk about. And there was some weeks where there really wasn’t anything going on in the sports world.
My blog has not covered any sports in awhile. There was the week I missed because of my surgery, which is healed fine now, so you don’t need to worry anymore. And then we started our movie projects so we didn’t have to do it anymore that trimester. But now that this great new trimester has started I’ll pick it up again.

“Blog about Blogging” That’s what Mr. Ayers told me I had to blog about blogging. I’m really not sure how to go about this. But I know when we first started this blogging thing I did not like it at all. I thought wow how pointless and I still kind of do but not I figured out that you said 3 posts of 250 words a piece instead of what I thought you said of 3, 750 words a week. It is much easier they way you really wanted to us to do it. It always takes me awhile to get started but then when I finally get started it’s really not that bad because I picked something that I like and something I know a little bit about. Sports. Overall blogging is not that bad and I much rather be doing it that a ton of other stuff Ayers could be having us do.

And to all my fans out there because I know there’s a bunch, why I was gone last week. Last winter I broke my both bones in my leg during a wrestling match, they had to put 8 pins and a plate in to it. So this last Monday I had the plate and 8 pins taken out. Here’s a picture of what the leg looks like at the moment.

Yesterday was national signing day for high school athletes. This is where the top high school athletes that are planning to play sports at the next level (college) sign there letter of intent to where there going to go attend in the fall. LSU and USC no surprise came away with the top recruiting classes of 2009 according to ESPN U. University of Iowa walked away with pretty must the top players from Iowa for football. They got Keenan Davis form wash who is like the number 16 receiver overall in the nation. Then they got Brandon Wanger from Sioux City Heelen. He had offers from Penn State and Oklahoma State just to name a couple. Then they also got athlete Jordan Cotton from Mount Pleasant he was one of the top athletes in Iowa this year. They also got the top d-linemen from Decorah. He’s like 6’6 300. That’s pretty huge. I read in the paper yesterday and they had talked to Davis and Wanger and they both said that the Iowa coaches said they both have a good chance of being towards the top of the depth chart.
There are about six kids form Kennedy that are signing there letter of intents some time this week Jenny Martin, Jade Grimm, Jenny Snook, Catherin Lewis, Tyler Severqueer, and Kyle Slaymaker. The girls are all going to play soccer. Tyler and Kyle are going to UNI. Kyle will run track and Tyler will walk on to kick for the football team.

Michael Phelps is not a smart man. Actually when I first saw the picture of him smoking out of the bong, I was very shocked and surprised. Like how could the best swimmer ever be so stupid and wow he was dumb because now he’s going to loose all of his sponsors and his reputation is going to be shattered but now that I have had some time to think about it. I still think it was kind of dumb on his part that if he was going to do it, you probably shouldn’t have a picture taken of you doing it. But he is only like 21 so he’s still pretty much a young adult still, and he owned up to he didn’t make some lame excuses that it helps him swim better he just like yeah I did it, it was stupid and I am sorry and I think that’s the best part that he owned up to it like a man, and didn’t make a bunch of excuses.
The super bowl was this past weekend. I was very happy with the game because some years the super bowl isn’t even fun to watch or a good game but this year on the other hand I thought the game was great. Everyone I was with was cheering for the Cardinals for whatever reasons so I decided to cheer for Pittsburg. I started talking trash towards the end of the fourth when the Steelers were up and it seemed to be over but then Kurt Warner hit Fitzgerald on that crazy long pass right down the middle of the field and I started to get pretty worried after that but then Big Ben and Holmes had that great play with about a half of minute left to seal the deal.

Well I just love blogging so much I wish we had to post ten times a week instead of only three. (Joking)
There is big news going around the MLB. It’s this new book that Joe Torre had apart of. I guess that he has some quotes or is quoted in the book and some are questionable if you are a Yankee or a New Yorker. I guess he says some things about how he was left kinda out to dry. I can understand because he did pretty well in New York but the past few seasons he didn’t do so hot but still overall he did very well. But the Yankees were only offering him a year deal and a pay cut. That seems kind of harsh but I guess it is the Yankees and don’t care what it takes to win.
There are some issues with the San Diego Chargers GM and LT. Some things were said I guess that the main sports guys think that LT will be playing for a different team next season. They were saying on Around the Horn on ESPN that this wasn’t a good thing for the franchise since LT is the chargers franchise player so that could hurt there publicity.
The super bowl is this weekend. The spread for this weekend’s game is the Steelers favored by 6 point over the Cardinals. I think that the Steelers’s are the favorite but I think that the game could go either way or be a lot closer if Holmes doesn’t play or is not 100 percent.

Well to all loving fans aka Mr. Ayers I was visiting my ancestiors in the motherland of Germany, so I have not had a chance to blog since they do not have computers on that side of the planet.
Also this week, a new president was sworn in. Our 44th President Barrack Obama. This was a historic day in American history.
Before we get started I use to read Rick Reilly every week at the end of Sports Illustrated but then he decided to leave Sports Illustrated and went to ESPN probably for the money. He really doesn’t have a column like he use to so I kind of disappoints me because I really enjoyed reading his weekly article.
Well the NFL division championships have been decided. Pittsburgh beat Baltimore in one of the best games I’ve ever seen. It was such a hard hitting game, I liked it a lot. And then in the NFC the Cardinals defeated the Eagles but the Cardinals were up big but then in the third quarter the Eagles made a come back but the Cardinals held them off. So in the 43rd (I think) super bowl it will be the Arizona Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Stealers.

Now the bowl season is over but I still want to talk about the BCS games because I haven’t had time to get to those yet. In the championship Florida beat Oklahoma 24 14. This is Florida’s second championship in three years. This game was real close all the way through until late in the fourth quarter then it kind of go out of hand but still over all it was a good game I thought. Tebow threw two interceptions in the first half but ended up passing for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 109 yards. Many thought that after the game he would announce his intentions to go to the draft but he did no such thing later this week he announced that he would return for his senior season. So depending on what Sam Bradford decides all three of the heismen candidates could be back for next season. Missouri’s Maclin announced this week that he would be heading to the draft. Texas Tech Michel Crabtree also announced that he would be going to the draft.
The final ranking came out and in the AP top 25 the top five are, 1. Florida 2. Utah 3.USC 4. Texas 5. Oklahoma. In the Coach’s top 25 poll the top five are 1. Florida 2.USC 3.Texas 4.Utah 5.Oklahoma.
The NFL playoff’s are in full swing. In the division championships for the NFC it the Eagles and the Cardinals, and for the AFC it’s the Ravens and the Steelers.
I know this blog is suppose to be about sports but I saw 7 pounds this past week and I just had a couple of comments on it. I thought it was a really good movie. I was a little confused when it started and through probably like a half hour or so but then I figured out what was going on and it turned in to a really sad movie. I usually don’t like sad movies but this one was really good.
A little news from close to home. On Friday night the boys faced off with cross town rival Jefferson. When ever we play Jefferson they seem to make it like the state championships. It reminds me of when Iowa and Iowa state play. Anyways the boys pretty much rock Jeff’s world. They beat them by like 15, and it really wasn’t that close the whole game. Then Saturday number one ranked Linn Mar played Sioux City Heelen who are ranked number one in 3A. It was a match up of the number one’s. At the start of the fourth it was all tied up at 32 but then Heelen ended the game with 17 to 10 fourth quarter. So Kennedy moves up to number two in the state. They play Wash on Friday.
Iowa’s back up quarterback Jake Christensen has decided to transfer his father told espn that on Saturday. He started all of the 2007 season but then this year he start off being the started but then lost the starting spot to Rick Stanzi. He was granted unconditional release by Ferentz. His dad told espn that four schools have already offered scholarships. He is a four year junior.

Before we get into the bowl season and all that’s happening with that. There was big news this week in college basketball number one North Carolina got lost to unranked Boston College. Many people believed that this North Carolina team could make it through the season without losing a game. I listened to coach Williams talk and he said that he was not happy they lost but if it was going to happen that it happen now and not later in the season or in the tournament. I have seen them play only a couple of times but when I did watch them, they seemed to pretty good compared to there opponents.
Now to the bowl games. All of them have been played except the championship one that is tonight. In the GMAC bowl it was number 22 Ball State against unraked Tulsa. Tulsa absolutely crushed Ball State 45 to 13. Wake Forest and Navy faced off in the EagleBank bowl. Wake Forests Skinner passed for 166 yards in there 29 to 19 win over Navy. In the Magicjack St. Petersburg bowl Grothe, of South Florida knock Memphis our early. Grothe passed for 236 yards and rushed for 83 more. South Florida won big 41 to14. Colorado State and Fresno State faced off in the New Mexico bowl. This one was close all the way through but Colorado State scored 20 in the fourth to win 40 to 35. BYU and Arizona played in the Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl. The crazy thing was that there was six inches of snow in Las Vegas when they played the game. Arizona upset number 16 BYU 31 to 21. Southern Miss and Troy went head to head in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. This was an exciting game it was back and forth the whole game. It ended up going into overtime. Southern Miss ended up winning by holding Troy to a field goal attempt but they missed and then Southern Miss kicked one of there own. The final was 30 to 27. TCU ended Boise State’s bid for perfection in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. It was a very close game, the final was 16 to 17. More to come…
